Cop for the 26th time

Rowdram, a malayalam movie was released on 31st January in which the actor Mammootty played the lead role as a police officer. This is the 26th time, Mammootty acting as cop in his film career. The film was written and directed by famous dialogue writter Ranji Panikkar and produced by Marikkar films. Manju and Ranjan P Dev are the other actors starring in this movie. Mammootty said that he plays as Narendran, an Assistant Commissioner of Police who is frustrated with the corruption prevailing in higher places and but polite in his behavior despite having a rough appearanace.

Mahatma Gandhi's ashes immersed in Arabian Sea

Gandhiji’s great grand-daughter Nilamben Parikh immersing the ashes of the Father of our nation in the Chopatty Bay in Mumbai.

The Father of India, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated on Jan 30, 1948 was known by everyone. An urn containing some ashes of Gandhi had been kept up safe by an NRI follower of Gandhi in his bank vault since 1948. This portion of his 6 decade old ashes was immersed in the Arabian sea in Mumbai on his 60th death anniversary. All the family members of Gandhi were participated in the ceremony except Harilal Gandhi's descendants because of the bitter relationship between Gandhi and his son Harilal Gandhi. This may not be the last ashes of Gandhi because it is also believed that there is an urn containing ashes of Gandhi in an ashram in California, USA. Repeated attempts by the Gandhi's family members to get that urn containing ashes went on vain.

Namitha and Shriya Rocks TN Assembly

The Tamil Nadu's Assembly instead of debating the Governor's address, spent the precious time for debating the dress code of the lady actors and Namitha. PMK MLA T Velmurugan accused the Tamil TV channels except Makkal TV of telecasting the programmes that were obscene according to him. He referred the dress code of actor Shriya during the recently held Sivaji's jubilee celebration attended by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi. Then he shifted towards actor Namitha's dress code in Kalaignar TV's Maanada Mayilada, a dance programme. Replying to this DMK's Arcot Veerasamy said that the Govt cannot enforce a law for dress code but we can advise them to wear dress properly. At last DeputySpeaker Mr Duraisamy commented that ' Velmurugan seemed to have watched all these shows scene by scene, frame by frame'.

Coimbatore's Tidel Park to be ready by Dec 08

The Tidel Park - Coimbatore which is going to be built on area of 161,500 sqm in vilankurichi will get ready for occupation by this year end. The Tidel Park Coimbatore Ltd (TPCL) has invited bids via newspapers and other medias for the construction of this IT Park. The tender for notice shows that the IT park complex consists of 3 basements, 1 Ground floor and 4 upper floors and the period of
completion is 10 months. The last date for issue of tender is 28 th January and the last date for submission of bids is 6 th February. At first, a complex of 11 floors was planned later it was dropped due to objection from the Coimbatore Airport Authorities since the airport is nearby. It is expected that Construction majors like DLF, Ascendas, GMR, L&T etc... will bid for this project.

Rajni to pair with Deepika in Shankar's Robot

Shankar, the South Indian film director is now busy in finalising the actors for his dream project entitled 'Robot'. Sources close to director Shankar said, Super Star Rajnikanth is going to be paired with 'OSO' heroine Deepika Padukone and A R Rehman will score the music for the movie. Robot will be produced by Ayngaran International and Eros Multimedia on a budget of Rs.100 crore and thus going to be the most expensive movie of Indian cinema. Sources also told that all these announcements will be officially made on the silver jubilee celebrations of 'Sivaji'. At first, it was planned that Shah Rukh Khan is going to play the lead role in 'Robot'. Then it was dropped due to 'creative differences'. Names like Amir Khan and Ajith Kumar were also rumoured to act in this movie.
